Although we were at the track on Monday, this was the Chumpcar weekend at MOSPORT.
One of our buddies told me the story about how he was going through turn 2 and got brake-checked between two apexes. The CRX chumpcar was apparently really twitchy and he lost it mid corner. He told me he was airborne, but it really didn't do it justice...until I saw the video!
I love how he never stops looking where he wants to go , even with the wall right next to him. Full lock, pedal to the floor.
Both the driver and the CRX were OK!

I don't know about the brake-check (can't see the brake lights in the video), but I do know the short wheelbase of the CRX makes them pretty twitchy mid-corner period, so a brake check would definitely cause something like that.

How does Chumpcar works exactly? How expensive is it?

Best place to get info is at www.chumpcar.com but it's essentially $500 cars (Internet "value") which you can then spend a very small amount on, or take penalties against your purchases. Safety equipment has no financial limit as far as I know and is in no way factored into the pricing/penalties.
You do need at least a 4-man crew I think, as they are endurance races and you need both fresh drivers and a group with well rounded talents to take care of whatever needs to be done both during the race, and often, all night before one!

I, too, was impressed with his NOT target fixation. Shows real discipline. Too bad it wasn't enough to save the crash though.

He's a great driver. If it hadn't been for the bumps in grass he might has made it through OK, especially with the new paved run-off in 2.

Been checking into it after the epic weekend at Calabogie at the end of September, and it's likely you're looking at around $5k for the car, and then probably $1500 - $2000 per weekend race (fuel, tires, entry, lodging, etc). Split that between 4 or 5 guys and it's manageable, but still an expensive hobby.
WAY cheaper than "normal" racing though...
